This week — three things to do

  1. Saturday, October 17: Come to the No Kings Vote Early Fair, noon to 2:00 at Gateway Corner Park
  2. Before Saturday: Ask a neighbor who needs a voting plan to come with you
  3. Saturday, October 24: Early voting opens at the Government Center in Geneseo

No Kings Vote Early Fair: Saturday, Noon to 2:00

The No Kings Vote Early Fair is this Saturday, October 17, from noon to 2:00 at Gateway Corner Park, 4267 Lakeville Road in Geneseo. It’s a rally, so bring your signs and flags and plan on some noise at the corner, and it’s a fair too, with tables where anybody can check their registration and leave with a plan to vote early.

Like every No Kings event that day, ours is nonpartisan, which in Indivisible’s words “does not mean neutral or quiet.” We’re just not telling anyone who to vote for, so leave candidate and party signs at home and bring No Kings, Vote Early and Speak Up signs instead.

The day starts in Dansville, where Indivisible Action NY and Hemlock Rising are across from Tops Plaza from 9:30 to 10:30. Genesee Valley Citizens for Peace holds its No Kings rally on Main Street in Geneseo from 11:00 to noon, right before ours, so you can go to more than one.

No Kings Vote Early ad: Saturday, October 17th, 3 events in Livingston County. 9:30 to 10:30 AM in Dansville, Indivisible Action NY and Hemlock Rising, across from Tops Plaza. 11 AM to noon in Geneseo, Genesee Valley Citizens for Peace, Village Park, 20A and Main. Noon to 2 PM in Geneseo, Genesee Valley Indivisible, Gateway Corner Park, Route 20A and Volunteer Road. Non-partisan voter registration, make a voting plan, rally event, all are welcome. geneseevalleyindivisible.org

Bring Someone Who Needs a Plan

Saturday does the most good for people who aren’t sure they’re registered, don’t know where they’d vote this year, or have never voted early. Think of the neighbor who moved last spring, or the grandchild voting for the first time. At the tables they can look themselves up in a couple of minutes and go home with a card that has their plan written on it.

Ethan DeMartinis made the same case in the Livingston County News last week, in a letter to the editor about early voting and why it’s worth making a plan now.

Early Voting Opens October 24

Early voting starts a week after the fair, and every registered voter in Livingston County can do it in one place, the Government Center at 6 Court Street in Geneseo, Room 205/208, any day from Saturday, October 24 through Sunday, November 1.

It’s open 9:00 to 5:00 most days, with two late nights for anyone who works days: Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

October 24 is also the last day to register for this election. The state’s voter lookup shows your registration status and your polling place in about a minute, so it’s worth checking before you go.

Twenty-One Days

That’s how many days are left until Election Day on November 3. On Saturday we’ll be at Gateway Corner Park helping our neighbors get ready for it, and a week later they can start voting.

And if you’re giving political money this fall, the campaign itself is still where it works hardest. Contribute to Alissa Ellman here.
