“STAND UP, FIGHT BACK!” RALLY REPORT
GVI’s “Stand Up, Fight Back” event went on the road again last Saturday, March 21st. At least 50 activists rallied in front of the Wyoming County Government Center in Warsaw. This rally was the first one organized by the new group WyCoNY Indivisible. Congratulations! Genesee Valley Indivisible is proud to support our neighbors. Most protesters carried signs that emphasized the positive messages of the pro-democracy movement: Democracy Needs Your Courage, Good Trouble Lives On, Fighting the SAVE Act is Good Trouble.
Recent voting in the Village and Town of Warsaw shows a preference for Donald Trump (2024 General Election Results: 60% for Donald Trump, 38% Kamala Harris; New York Times). Contrary to this recent history, in the decades before the American Civil War, Warsaw was a center of abolitionist sentiment and activity. Warsaw’s local anti-slavery society was formed in 1833, the same year as the American Anti-Slavery Society. Several homes and churches are documented to have participated in the Underground Railroad.
In November 1839 the anti-slavery Liberty Party was formed in a meeting at Warsaw’s Presbyterian Church. The area sent abolitionists Seth M. Gates and Augustus Frank to serve in the United States Congress. While in Congress, Augustus Frank was instrumental in the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment which abolished slavery. An anti-slavery newspaper called The American Citizen was published in Warsaw. (Wikipedia)
Wyoming County NY Indivisible and Genesee Valley Indivisible are proud to amplify the voices of pro-democracy residents of Warsaw and Wyoming County NY. Join them on March 28th in Perry, NY for No Kings Day 3.0!
GENESEE VALLEY VOICES
From another anonymous voice, a personal story:
My birthday fell during one of our Thursday meetings this October. A friend called to wish me a happy birthday that evening, so I temporarily left the meeting to answer the call. They asked what I was doing & I explained where I was. Their response was, “You know what you’re doing is not going to change anything right.” I hung up on them. But I wrote an email back later. I said, ‘I know what I’m doing is not going to change anything; not me by myself. But you’re wrong about what you think because I’m contributing to something much larger than me. And this larger movement is going to change things.’
KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING
Stand Up, Fight Back Saturdays returns from Wyoming County to rally in the Leicester Village Park. Our theme is our series title, Stand Up, Fight Back. Bring your best messages in preparation for No Kings 3.0 on March 28th! Bonus points to anyone tying Rep. Claudia Tenney to the unconstitutional horrors of the Trump Regime and the unconstitutional complicity of Congress.

REPLACE REP. CLAUDIA TENNEY IN NY-24
Claudia Tenney is our current, do-nothing, Republican Congresswoman in the 24th Congressional District of New York. This district covers Livingston, Wyoming, Genesee, and Ontario Counties, plus 10 other counties between Niagara Falls and Watertown. There are 4 candidates running against her this year. (See the Town Hall on April 14th information elsewhere in this newsletter.)
GVI is part of the NY-24 Coalition of pro-democracy groups in the 24th Congressional District. This coalition is focusing exclusively on removing Claudia Tenney from office. The coalition has not endorsed any of the candidates running against her.
The NY-24 Coalition would like to have one or two consistent “anti-Tenney” messages across NY-24 as we move towards the General Election in November. One tactic will be uniform yard signs across 14 counties! Help select the message — you are voting for your top three among 22 options. Printing and distribution will happen later this year.

LOCAL POSTCARD CAMPAIGN
GVI’s Postcard Track Record
In last week’s Newsletter, we shared research on The Power of Postcards
This week, we honor and congratulate our members who are taking advantage of the power of postcards:
- In 2025, members of GVI wrote and mailed 5,000 postcards!
- From January 1st – March 21st, GVI members have written and mailed 1,933 postcards!
You can pick up postcards, and sit and write them, at GVI’s Thursday meetings. But order in advance!
