2026 Election Season is Open!

We will add a comprehensive list of 2025 Elections and candidates this month.

We are collecting names of candidates for the 2026 Election as we learn about them.

This month you can meet Diana Kastenbaum, a Democratic candidate running against Claudia Tenney in the NY-24 Congressional District, at several places. Including the monthly meeting of the Livingston County Democratic Committee on August 6th.

All registered Democrats are welcome.

Other declared candidates in this race are Steve Holden and Alissa Ellman.

Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado is a declared candidate in the 2026 Governor Election, as is incumbent Kathy Hochul.

Hear from Lt. Governor Delgado in a virtual meet & greet on August 18th.

Author of “Letters from an American,” Dr. Richardson is a well-regarded historian and commentator on politics. Two recent videos are of particular interest:

  • A Hopeful Note on August July 31st 2025 (Trump’s Bluffing Because He’s Losing Control (And Approval) | Explainer)

  • On Building and Rebuilding Democracy – A conversation between two historians, Heather Cox Richardson and Joanne Freeman, July 30th 2025 (26:22 minutes)

[The 2nd video in this list will make an interesting pairing with an August 26th Book Discussion on The Bill of Obligations by Richard Haas.]

Rochester Rapid Response Network (RRRN)

(Support Migrants Against ICE)

RRRN is a very active and knowledgeable volunteer aid group. Put their number in your phone and report local ICE kidnappings that are happening with increasing frequency: 585-420-6471.

It’s helpful to observe location, vehicle description, and other details that can inform a response.

Counties south of Rochester are working on their own Rapid Response Network. More information to come soon. If you would like to be on the notification list for further information, email info@geneseevalleyindivisible.org.

In the meantime, RRRN holds monthly orientations and accepts volunteer applications to help in many ways. Volunteer Sign Up.

Climate Change & Political Change

Genesee Valley Indivisible has not been very active in the politics of climate change since we started our group activism in March 2025. For those interested, here is an interesting coincidence to jump-start some actions.

Why? Listen to the Zoom presentation below.

What?

  1. On Thursday, August 7th, from Noon to 1:00pm, a Zoom presentation from Indivisible Rochester and the Climate Solutions Accelerator will review the State of [the] Climate Movement in the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. Details in the GVI Events Calendar.
  2. The Autumnal Equinox is on Monday, September 22. And there is a national day of action on Sunday, September 21st. It is called Sun Day. There are actions and events being scheduled around the country, but none — so far — in our immediate area. If the Zoom presentation above motivates you to act, consider doing something for Sun Day 2025.

Who? You. Us. Our community.

How?

Someone Needs to Keep a List

Funny??

I’m crying!!
