Hungry in NY-24: Why Aren’t Seniors a Priority for Claudia Tenney?

Claudia Tenney spends much of her time and effort promoting Trump and the MAGA agenda. She spends a disturbingly small amount of time addressing the needs of the people living in NY-24.

A recent NY Health Foundation report highlights the issue of food insecurity faced by older adults in NY-24. As reported by seniors residing in the 14 counties that comprise NY-24, an average of 6% to 10% of seniors are impacted by food insecurity issues. Seniors living in the Finger Lakes region have some of the highest rates of food insecurity in New York State.

The report also notes that between 47% and 56% of senior citizens in NY-24 report that they have difficulty accessing affordable, quality food. How is it possible that some of our most vulnerable population has this much difficulty accessing something as basic as food? How is it possible that our seniors aren’t having this basic need met?

One avenue open to seniors dealing with food insecurity issues was SNAP. 16% of those in NY-24 participating in SNAP are senior citizens (otda.ny.gov). Tenney voted gut SNAP. Tenney voted to harm seniors in NY-24.

No one in NY-24 should be going hungry. One of Tenney’s TOP priorities should be aggressively addressing the issues of food insecurity and access to affordable, quality food in NY-24.

Seniors living in NY-24 deserve better. The people living in NY-24 deserve better.

Claudia Tenney, DO BETTER.
