Let the rich make America great

There is a direct correlation between the increase in the National Debt and the Republican drive to REDUCE taxes on the very wealthy.

President Reagan, for example, slashed the tax rate on the highest wage-earners from 70% to 28%. Consequently, the National Debt nearly tripled. In his first term in office, Trump reduced the tax rate on the very rich from 39.6% to 35%. He increased the National Debt by $7.8 Trillion.

Because of tax breaks for the very rich, Trump has already increased the U.S. national debt by $2.2 trillion in 2025. Due to the war in Iran and the tax cuts, it is likely that the National Debt will increase by at least $1.5 Trillion in 2026.

The solution to this existential problem is simple. Impose a flat tax of 10% on all people who earn more than $1 million. This contribution from the rich would raise hundreds of billions of dollars for America. The accrued money could be used to resurrect safeguards for the poor and middle class. Programs like food benefits, health insurance, Social Security solvency, housing problems and environmental protections. Then America would be able to enjoy the โ€œtrickle downโ€ effect this will have on our general economy.

A healthier, happier citizen base would spend more and thus increase our gross national product.

Republicans will fight this common-sense solution but Democrats will champion it. So, letโ€™s return to those saner times when the rich contributed more and thus helped make America great.
