Fracking not worth it in Finger Lakes

It was discouraging to hear Bruce Blakeman, current Republican candidate for governor, talk about bringing fracking to New York state while he was in Avon.

He spoke glowingly of fracking in Pennsylvania BUT he did not mention that the industry there is sending billions of gallons of toxic, radioactive brine to Ohio to be pumped into deep injection wells in the Buckeye State. He also didn’t mention that this foul salty water waste doesn’t stay down. It is working its way up into groundwater and drinking water wells, and contaminating surface streams and rivers. We don’t need such ghastly water pollution spoiling our beautiful Finger Lakes. That kind of drilling is not worth it, baby. Wind and solar are clean and they can work for us. No fracking, Blakeman!
