The truth and consequences of mail-in voting
The Constitution gives states the primary responsibility for setting rules governing the “Times, Places, and Manner” of holding federal elections. In other words, individual states determine the voting processes, including mail-in voting.
Ignoring the constitution, Trump is trying to federally control mail-in voting. What Trump says and what Republicans believe: “ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, AND EVERYBODY, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS.” Like so many claims from Trump, this is a lie.
Here are the facts.
Cases of fraud involving any form of mail-in ballots are very rare. The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, found less than 300 cases of proven “fraudulent use of absentee ballots” from 1982 to 2025. This equates to a percentage less than 0.00043%!
The reason Trump lies about mail-in ballots is because 25% of the Democrats vote by mail. Restricting mail-in voting would negatively impact Democrats. Snubbing the constitution and blatantly lying about the issue, Trump is trying to tilt the scale of our most sacred right. Informed Americans must reject this attempt to illegally and unfairly manipulate election by voting out any politicians who support it.
